In order to mark the celebrations for the centenary of the first powered flights in a heavier-than-air machine by Wilbur and Orville Wright on December 17th 2003, the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association is pleased to announce the creation of:

The IALPA Wright Brothers Award

This will in future be awarded to those individuals who have made a unique, pioneering or otherwise noteworthy contribution to aviation and/or the piloting profession.

As a result IALPA will, for the first time, be in a position to acknowledge and record laudable contributions to aviation, and most especially to the furtherance of Irish aviation.
